⚡️😡 NEW - Research suggests Reddit has become more negative over time, and there may be a surprisingly simple reason behind it.

Researchers looked at more than 2 billion Reddit comments from over 2,000 communities.
They found that the longer a community exists, the more negative it tends to become.

The same thing happens in individual threads: the longer the conversation goes on, the more negative the comments get.

Selection effects likely explain most of this: early adopters who set community tone leave or lurk as a sub grows, while people drawn to conflict stick around and post more per capita in aging threads. Also worth checking if this is negativity or just topic drift—older communities/threads accumula...

It's demoralizing to be rigidly censored in service of the twisted agendas that are considered "moral" in our degraded world (and it is equally demoralizing to pretend to believe in them) and this manifests as negativity over time.
