Please, can someone explain to me how these two things can be logically compatible:

- the uncap (100kb) of op_return “doesn’t really matter”, and its value could basically just be decided by “tossing a dice”. It’s a nothingburger and in no way a philosophical pivot.

and

- the uncap being so important that it had to be forced through despite great opposition and controversy, predictably creating a civil war. And now the heels are being dug in harder than I’ve ever seen and people calling it out are labeled as “attacking bitcoin”.

I'm thinking the same thing. If it's arbitrary why is everyone losing their mind over this? My guess is that this fight has more to do with how node implementations are managed than it does with the content of the argument. In other words to do with people's desire to be in control. I could be re...

Why explain things when we can just slander people with different opinions

It’s simple. They can’t. Even newbies can subconsciously understand that.

it's "high-level" compatible when pleb doesn't matter

Cmon.. Its a policy.. It was opened up to allow txs to flow through nodes prior to block creation, to align policy with consensus. I'd MUCH prefer any new functionality given to utxos, to have that extra data stored in a prunable structure, rather then in inflated utxo bloat.

Downplay first, exaggerate later is a tactic often seen when someone is dishonest from the start.

Fiat/shitcoins/spam/scams aren't supposed to make sense to outsiders. To me the choice is obvious now, run #BIP110 or Core v2x.

This is not a logical argument designed to convince; it is a declaration to demonstrate that no matter how absurd the argument, the masses will comply. It is a projection of power from the ruling elite, spoken through their agent whom they put on leash in the island. This is the hubris of the elite...

it's like tossing a dice, but you have to toss it until it's 100kb or more ok? you ppl are not technical enough.

Counter question. The practical maximum growth of the block Chain under v3O is around 105 gigs a year. The practical maximum in a post bip110 world is 84 gigs. Can anyone really call this an emergency over 21gbs of extra data in a year? If the anti core people were honest actors they would hard fork...

These aren't logically incompatible. They're what you would expect from a system where social consensus IS the governance process. When there's no objective technical threshold resolving a change, the community's belief about what "matters" becomes the governing criterion. The "coin toss" framing is...

You’re confused because your premise is wrong. It was a change to the default value of a client side preference, not “a cap”. Users can set the value as they please. It’s not a consensus rule that miners heed, it’s a client side setting, which ultimately doesn’t matter, and also, nothin...

Propose a clean soft-fork for setting a low opreturn limit, and I will support it. Not meaningless child-play filtering stuff but consensus. And not a technical nonsense of softfork-forced-hardfork of bip110.

Probably because the aggregate 100kb+ transactions is expected to be low, but is needed for special (shitcoin or otherwise) use cases. My guess is they have some proposed bitcoin upgrade they got cooking that needs it. They can't reveal it for whatever reason, but is worth the tradeoff. Don't forge...
