So #Nostr How would you explain a zap to a non Bitcoin person?

I’m trying to explain Zaps to one of my editors for an article I’m writing.

He says we should call them Nostr transactions.. I’m like well firstly no, coz they’re called Zaps.

And they’re more like donations or direct funding. “Transactionl feels funny.

It’s all part of the value4value… economy which I’m now having to explain.

Help?

It's just a Nostr aware Lightning tip. But they're more than tips. They're used to build a value for value economy on Nostr.

It’s a “like” that actually has a real monetary value. For me it’s “liking” a post but with much stronger signal because I reward the author with real bitcoin

it’s the difference between finishing your meal at a restaurant and leaving no tip but telling the waiter don’t worry you will write a review on yelp (like) —vs— leaving a tip in cash with a gold coin (zap)

Tips. People get the idea of tips. So tips could work. I see zaps as complements or little Engery exchanges.
