I think two important counter-facts with the begged analogy are:
1. God invites us, and
2. We are His children.
So the begged label isn’t really applicable; I don’t think.
(Maybe I’m stuck on semantics and missing your point, but once we have accepted Christ as our savior we no longer have to go down the street…Holy Spirit lives in us and the proverbial bread is rightly within our grasps! The beggar scenario missed the fact that those who believe are reconciled and no longer does any gap exists…)
