Saw a news report of a retired senior woman somewhere in England complaining about building maintenance issues, and her retirement house was referred to as her "forever home".
Whilst I can understand what they mean, I've always previously read this term in the context of rehomed cats, dogs and other pets from rescue shelters (presumably folk in England /aren't/ yet putting out their older relatives for rehoming..)
