It never stops.

Of course! couple of times a day. Not just inner, I discuss with myself speaking things out while I cook for example. It helps me sorting my thoughts.

I have an inner monologue, but it's often less words and more charts, numbers, shapes and pictures. 😂
D · 63w
yes full on all the time, I can't stop the monologue or inner voice ever.
Zoe Canada · 63w
No, I never talk to myself when i think.
JDizz · 63w
**is she asking us now because she wants a response from the inner monologue or is this now confirmation that I actually do carry on these conversations without having previously known that I did** ……..SHHH!! **wait?! Who said that?**
FernandoTheKoala · 63w
I actually record myself addressing me/myself/&I and later on I watch it!

Constantly! Sometimes more than one. I usually describe my brain as being like a browser with multiple tabs open. It can be bad, like a tab that keeps popping up when you are trying to focus on something else. It can also be brilliant, like when a tab is working in the background quietly process...

Most of inner monologue is pure ego, you have to breakthrough and do things outside and return with results. Don't believe your own bullshit

It's almost unbearably loud when I'm working with my hands or doing mundane tasks. I even struggle to read a book sometimes, the chatter is so loud. I can read a whole chapter while the monologue drones on, and I won't have a clue what I've just read.

Yes I work mostly by myself a physical job I would guess 90-95% or the things I "say" never pass through my lips..... and sometimes I also talk out loud to myself but nowhere near as often.

Recently came across this topic cause I read that upwards of 50+% of people don’t. Shocked the hell out of me, but it’s called Anendophasia.
Eskedafedaheda · 63w
Complete shower thought but it made me wonder if schizophrenia wasn’t just someones inner dialogue starting to talk them and it freaked them out.
Eskedafedaheda · 63w
Also made me wonder if meditative gurus don’t have inner dialogue making it sooo much easier to attain the quiet mind.
Rebel-With-A-Cause · 63w
Yep, and outloud too sometimes. Ppl are often asking if I'm speaking to them, but no just me, again.

Sacred Peak · 63w
yes but it isn't a conversation our true self (human heart) only speaks when the garbage we intellectualize ourselves to be is forgotten i don't like to quote but thus is apt "to study the self is to forget the self" — Dōgen in other words when we stop conceptualising like in the OP's graphic...
