New shoes vs dirty shoes vs cleaned shoe, and my thoughts.
In arid environments like Colorado, even on long runs my feet never sweat and my shoes stayed dry. Now that I’m back on the East Coast running in humidity, my feet are sweating—and I’m discovering that my shoes are somehow getting ridiculously dirty.
I like my Nikes white, so I ordered shoe cleaner off Amazon and got to work. After 28 squirts, I started wondering what exactly this cleaning solution was made of and began imagining all those mysterious chemicals soaking into my sweaty feet and getting pumped around my body on a long run with my heart rate elevated.
So I decided these shoes are going into retirement—and I’m never using shoe cleaner again. #runstr
