Did a little forge work today. I wasn't planning on making a hook, but my son wanted to forge a spear point so I showed him how. It just so happens that a spear point is made very similar to how one would forge a leaf. I used a railroad spike with the head cut off so I wasn't wasting good steel. Since I didn't need a mild steel spear point, I finished making it into a leaf and drew out the rest of the spike into a hook.
