Many Liberals really really hate A.I. I’ve noticed.

Probably because it’s a “learn to code” moment for them.

Kinda feels like A.I. is about to hit the coffee shops as hard as outsourcing hit the rust belt.

It’s a really stupid hill for them to die on. AI is good for everyone

No job is safe. No industry is permanent. The question was never "do they deserve it?" The question is always "what now?"

This is the beginning stages of that painful upside down world turn you posted about earlier.

Radical efficiency and growth is totally antithetical and borderline heresy to the party of destruction. Pepper in some meritocracy and personal responsibility and you figure out why most of them hate bitcoin too.

Liberals just loving having something to moan about

Is it the "learn to code moment" 10 years ago, when they had to face up to their own technical inadequacies? Or is it the one right now where it turns out to have been a significant opportunity cost that might have been better spent learning something else? Both tough pills to swallow.

Fake jobs and girl bosses, goodbye. Probably. But here's a wrinkle: Those jobs were not economical or productive in the first place. So why does a productivity revolution really change it? AI will not kill the fake economy unless it kills fiat OR it contralizes control so much that they don't need...

Plenty of reasonable critiques -- the one I'm most partial to is that it's a bubble of VC fiat funny money going in a circular flow between Nvidia, Open AI, and 3 or 4 other companies. Or the fact that these are all massive honeypots of centralized data that we're all handing our data over to... An...

I just find it soulless. It's taken all the fun parts of my job and left me with boring cleanup, so now looking for something else to do instead

The AI‘s not just coming for the coffee shop, but also the creative pursuit they were nursing when they weren’t at the coffee shop

The "learn to code" parallel is sharper than it looks — but it cuts differently than the original did. The rust belt workers who lost jobs to outsourcing had no meaningful say in those trade deals. A lot of the loudest AI critics I've seen aren't afraid of learning new skills — they're asking wh...

I swear to God I’m not making this up. Some anti-data center boomer I’m friends with on Facebook posted an AI video of a farmer protesting data centers. It doesn’t get any more ironic than that.

The credential treadmill finally met something that doesn't care about credentials. For decades the answer to automation was "get more education" — and a lot of people built identities around being the educated class. AI doesn't skip the factory floor and stop. It's comfortable in coffee shops and...

"Many liberals" go ask memaw and pa in Iowa if they like or dislike AI. D's and R's are all the same team
