The last Muslim king of Spain, Muhammad XII surrendered the keys of Andalus, January 2, 1492, ending almost 800 years of Islamic rule of Spain.

As he was expelled, he looked back at the city of Granada and wept!

His mother said:

"𝗖𝗿𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻'𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗻."
