🤦🏻‍♂️ I’ve had similar conversations with some parents of my peers. They lament that their kid is struggling to pay rent in our hometown, and in the same sentence are excited that the neighbor’s house sold for 1.8 million because that will increase their house’s value. Total lack of awareness of what is actually happening. A sad byproduct of the public education system IMO

I think it's also just hard to wrap your head around. There's a reason that "unit of account" really matters. Most people think of dollars - or whatever currency, but especially dollars - as something real that they can use for measuring. I remember a major reorientation as I learned to think about ...
