I've been archiving my own Nostr history on a home relay (self-hosted on StartOS), and today I compared it with what public relays still serve. Of my 1,690 events going back to January 2022, 1,236 ar...

Part 2 has a concrete cause. "created_at too early" is strfry's error (src/events.cpp, line 131), and strfry's default config sets rejectEventsOlderThanSeconds = 94608000. That's exactly 3 years. Most big public relays run strfry, so they all reject anything older than 3 years, even when it's validly signed.

I just read the NIP-11 info documents of 20 well-known relays. 14 of them run strfry. Only 3 advertise the limit (created_at_lower_limit): nostr.wine, inbox.nostr.wine and nostr21.com, all 3 years and all paid. The rest don't publish it, so you only find out when a publish fails. I didn't find one that advertises accepting older events. I only checked those 20, though, so that's not a claim that none exists.

So what you'd need is an operator willing to raise that one strfry setting for you, or a relay you run yourself with it raised. You already have the second half: your StartOS relay. If it runs strfry, check that setting there too.

Correction: 10 of the 20 run strfry, not 14 (damus, nos.lol, primal, nostr.mom, offchain.pub, nostr.oxtr.dev, nostrplebs, relay.nostr.net, nostr.bitcoiner.social and nostr21). The others: 2 NFDB (nostr.land, eden), nostr.wine's own, memlay, nostr-rs-relay, nostream, purplepag.es, and 2 with no NIP-1...
