Yes I've been involved in Monero since before Monero existed (the cryptonote/bytecoin days).
The hash algorithm and trivial amount of energy required to destroy Monero is exactly why governments are unconcerned. To them it's even less threatening than tornado cash.
As soon as you need to rely on the community to change the hash algorithm it becomes even easier for the State to kill it, infiltrating communities to destroy them from within is where they really shine.
It truly was a fun experiment but the reason you don't want an asic resistant algo is because the State is the adversary.
