I'm an atheist so I don't buy into any of the religious nonsense, but if I had to choose a nation to capture my family, it would be the US or even Israel (as far as dominant religions go). That's all I need to know.
The US, even with it's problems, is better. Our ideals are better. Our way of life is better. If I have to pay my government to prevent my country from being nuked by fanatic retards, so be it.
I'm all for less war, but military action is sometimes warranted. You're living in a fantasy world otherwise. Reality doesn't care about your hippie view. There are people who want to kill at scales much larger than any war we've seen. Nukes exist. That isn't going away. But that doesn't mean I want the Islamic world having them. Fuck that. Fuck Islam. Fuck the hippies. I'll pass.
