I probably know more about bitcoin security than your average person on the street because of my husband and hanging on nostr. I’ve learned a lot, but have resisted learning certain areas because in the back of my mind, I’m like “my husband’s got this” and “it’s too complicated for me”, but I’m feeling motivated to learn in case of an emergency. I don’t feel confident and I probably should fix that.

The ColdCard fiasco is my worst nightmare. I don't own a ColdCard and I keep checking my funds to make sure they are safu. I should get a seed signer and casino dice. I won't sleep well till then.

Will people now understand why all crypto world freaked out when NSA allegedly tried to backdoor an RNG? Probably not.

I’ll take this mansplaining gift. Fundamentally it’s not that hard just a lot of terminology. Bitcoin relies of randomness because a Bitcoin key is just a huge number that takes a long time to guess. So first of all you gotta get that right. This is why seeds created in coldcards are bad even...

I'm glad you said that. Because for ages I often was "my bf/hubby will handle it for me" Which is a huge risk as "Bitcoin is a technical sport, blink and lose an eye", owwwwwieee ;D

Same... I've been procrastinating on some topics because they felt overwhelming and like there was never a good time to sit down and look at them. This has been a wakeup call.

Nesho, I really admire this. Honestly, I think a lot of people are in the same position but don’t say it out loud. The fact that you’re motivated to learn now is already a huge step. Bitcoin security can feel intimidating, but it becomes much less complicated once you start taking it one piece ...

The person who wrote the software for the coldcard also felt (or ar least acted) very confident. While it is good for your own peace to feel confident it easily turns against you. It's a delicate balance. You should always let your confidence be challenged. In the end it leaves you with more knowled...

I’ve got a random learning story for you. I had a wallet with a pass phrase through sparrow wallet. One time I opened my wallet with a typo in the pass phrase. The wallet still opened but with completely new addresses. I should have seen that there was no past activity on any addresses but I was t...
