Is anyone really surprised by this? The Nats normally give Labour-led governments 3 ordinary Parliamentary terms to raise revenue to fund necessary infrastructure maintenance and social programs. Only...

But this time Labour only got 2 terms. Most of which they had to spend dealing with a global pandemic, rather than building up a thick layer of budgetary fat for the Nats to misappropriate. With very little fat to cut, they had go straight to burning the country's lean muscle, and only 1 term into government, they're already starving for public money to give to the already wealthy.

What does a country do when starving amidst plenty? Hopefully, it revolts and eats the rich, but we'll see.
