I just got scammed on XMRBazaar, in the escrow process of all things. Scammer impersonated the Mediator with an almost identical username and profile photo ("aka__TheAC" instead of "aka_TheAC") and started to offer "tech support" when the escrow had websocket errors...
It was my first time using in-site escrow, so the websocket errors were getting me worried. The fake Mediator contacted me, asking to confirm "is this your order?" etc. Without checking the profile carefully, I took his support at face value...
I was told he could "fix things on his end", and because I was using the escrow I felt too confident, let my guard down, and send funds to what turned out to be a fake address. Money's gone, I got absolutely bamboozled because I was impatient and inexperienced.
Learn from my mistake. If you do an escrow order on XMRBazaar, and the "Mediator" messages you, ALWAYS double check if the account is legit and NEVER send funds outside the escrow process. It was a stupid mistake I shouldn't have made, but I hope others can learn from my embarrassing fuckup.
