It's gross how some old harmful core tenets in society are pretty clearly indicative of a lack of empathy, compassion or respect for the agency and/or autonomy of others.

The only way anyone could really think things were alright is if they simply didn't consider others to really be people. To matter. At least, that is my perception of it. Any other manner of delusional lie should've simply eroded away over time.
