Chechens were an independent country only for those who supported their separatists. For Russia, they were part of the Russian Federation.

The countries Russia attacks exist only in the fantasies of Western Europeans. Apart from Ukraine, in its entire modern history, the Russian Federation has "attacked" only Moldova and Georgia, protecting local independent minorities, and in both cases none of Russia's partner countries were involved.

Even in the case of Ukraine, Belarus's involvement was minimal and was more for show than out of any necessity. The other EAEU countries, for the most part, helped Ukraine more than Russia. The same can be said about the CIS, CSTO, SCO, and BRICS countries. The only country from which Russia received any real military support is North Korea.
