I'm used to thinking of fedi as a friendly "old internet" space where barring an instance shutdown or something, useful information doesn't just vanish because someone paywalled it or EOL'd the product it was talking about or whatever.

And auto deletion really messes with that.

I may have to get in the habit of actually screenshotting or pdf exporting threads with information I wanted to save for later, because this is now a couple of times that I engaged in a productive discussion, kept it open in a browser tab thinking "this is a good idea but I don't have time irght now...
