Digital business models and companies have been built on top of walled garden ecosystems and corporate platforms before (e.g. on YouTube, Facebook). But I'm amazed to see the same thing happening with AI-based workflows, processes and tools.
Vendor lock-ins will foreseeably come after them with cost increase and additional expenses once the subsidy era ends. What currently looks like a shiny suit of cohesive tools will most likely lead to fragile and stifled processes that come by being heavily depended on the chosen provider (e.g. Anthropic).
