Microsd card of my rpi node is ded. I'm in shambles. 😭. No valuable data is lost though, everything important was on a proper external drive, just the OS was in the sd card.
The sd is still mountable read-only so I can still manually salvage the configs and setups but it's a PITA

I feel for ya. I hate when that happens.

That is a PITA. Did you have any open lightning channels? I’ve been anticipating problems with mine and so I just invested in a second node running on a mini-PC with faster processor, more memory, and more storage. Total cost was <$250.

Bummer. Have you looked into booting off of an ssd?

I've been through a bunch of SDcards. I'm playing with a RPI5 right now. I Can't wait for a proper nvme had to come out.

you can boot RPis from USB flash drives which are a bit more durable than MicroSD. An RPi 5 can also boot from NVMe, the best. An RPi 4 CM can even boot from NVMe or internal flash (eMMC).

I've had this happen. I sucks but ultimately it was no biggie. Good luck!

Just want to add that if using m.2 form, it's recommended to use older m.2 SATA with RPi 4 because it generally requires less power than NVMe. Also the SSD enclosures themselves vary in the amount of power they consume. Personally, I had intermittent power issues with that silver enclosure in the ...

Next time get two sdcards. Set up the OS in one and once you are happy with your setup, clone the card using dd.

Sorry to hear, I hope you’ll be up and running soon again.

Core Lightning with the quick and dirty sqlite replication on a USB stick is minimal effort for the new node, which as you stated, should not be a raspi
