@nprofile1q... that's how these old steam radiator systems work. one boiler pushes out steam to all the units, the units have valves on all the radiators so you can limit the steam somewhat (the pipes in the floor still provide heat though), and you open a window if you need to cool things down more. supposedly these became popular here in the 1920s due to a particularly nasty global flu pandemic, because then you could leave a window open to get fresh air.
