I didn't think Supergirl was all that non-traditional, but it really seems like a lot of people are saying "this isn't how a superhero film is supposed to be" which to me literally isn't real criticis...
Films are art. You have to let the artists decide what the work they are making will be.
When you watch a movie, you are engaging with something specific someone made. You aren't watching a genre. You're watching a film: an individual, singular film, made by specific people at a specific time in a specific style for specific reasons.
I think the MCU-ifacation of movies is affecting how people receive & interact with movies in a way I very much dislike.
