claude fable 5 is great at long running tasks but still sometimes leaves things dangling. but what's more annoying is in wide ranging chats i'm going fine for about 2 hours and then i paste in one thing that has the text "when should you shoot a cop" and bam. downgrade to opus 4.8. i corrected it by removing the preamble containing content i hadn't actually responded to and it still downgraded.

feels like being punished for wrongthink. anthropic's guardrails on fable are overzealous and flagging legitimate discussions about biology, specifically, such as parasitism being net negative and symbiosis/farming being positive, and the subjective cognitive effects of natural legal supplement chemicals like taurine, carnitine and magnesium, both got me flagged so yeah. i'm sticking with trusty claude opus 4.6 for chat for good. two strikes i'm out.
