I have no idea what this fruit is called in English. 😅 In Thai, it’s called มะอึก (má-euk). It’s covered in fuzzy hairs and kind of looks like a tomato and eggplant had a baby.

The flavor is fruity, sour, with just a hint of bitterness—and I loooooove adding it to nam prik (Thai chili dips). It’s also used in some Thai curry pastes or added directly to curries for its unique tangy flavor.

Before using it, you have to scrape or rub off all the fuzzy hairs. It’s a little extra work, but it’s so worth it!

Have you ever tried this fruit? If you know what it’s called in English, let me know! 😊

It kind of looks & sounds like a fruit we have in #Bermuda called a "Loquat" (Japanese Plum), but ours are only fuzzy when they are young. 🤷‍♂️ A little sour when they are young, but very sweet when ripe. 🤙 https://blossom.primal.net/4c29e444956849de9abcb4c99f43ffe4e0cc53d6f6120314cbe6...

I had no idea. My bf had no idea. Even Google Lens had no idea lol. Translated the word into English and it returned hairy-fruited eggplant haha
