I have a rule for myself when I read, I’m not allowed to stop reading until the next chapter. I don’t allow myself to stop mid-chapter. So if anything serious ever happens and I need to act quickly, it’s just gonna have to wait until the next chapter.

I will read the first 2 chapters of a book and if it doesn't captivate me, I start using a $5 bill as a bookmark. When I finish the book, I "get" use the $5 to buy myself a latte.
