Whether or not you get followers is a direct consequence of your interactions with other users. Perhaps the real question is how to get newcomers to want to interact with those of us already here.

Not all of us are high-profile figures who flit between platforms with a large following. If we want this to be a true social network and a public square —which is what I love most— perhaps we should focus on interactions rather than followers . . .

Wake up, they're controlling engagement to silence truth tellers, suppressing real interaction to keep newcomers in the dark.

Thing is, if no one follows you, no one can respond to any of your notes. You are forced to hover in people's replies all the time. It's not ideal imo. Need an additional method of discovering and following new users.
