Its solicitation season here in the neighborhood. I disabled the doorbell. I mounted a very classy brass "No Solicitors Thank You" plaque into the brick at eye height. They just stand there for MINUTES.

I don't know what I have to do. I mean, maybe I should wire the doorbell to a string of animated LEDs around the sign and a speaker in the bushes that plaus the sound of a shell chambering in a shotgun.

i had one come shortly after installing the sign. i opened the door, pointed to the sign, and asked “did you not read the sign?” they looked at the sign, then with a puzzled look explained that they didn’t think it applied to them. MF IT ONLY APPLIES TO YOU

Maybe even write a mild electric shock to the doorbell a la livestock fence. Nothing that can really hurt them, but enough that will make them question ringing it again. Add a caution sign staying that doorbell is electrified, use at your own risk just to save yourself some liability
