while we are piling on work;
You can leverage https://spacetomatoes.net/ for your NIP-05 handle ([email protected]).

A lot of the trust-metrics used in the space like it if you have such a nip05 handle, and you can also give that to people instead of your npub, and they can easily find you on Nostr.

Some people have tied a bunch of things to it, such that its at the same time their email adress, nostr adress, and bitcoin-payment adress (and whatever legacy web stuff you can tie to it), making it 1 handle for all the things.

I got asked to relay the following:

Please tell soft summer to warm up the figs, they will taste way better and can be used in salades (with balsamico)

indeed there is no log-in for the tarot thing. I remember when the tarot thing became popular. There used to be all these astrology youtubers out there, and almost instantly, from one day to the next, they started to make tarot content, and you'd have to look really hard to find anyone that does not incorporate tarot stuff. (im not super into this stuff or anything, just one of the many anthropological exercises i perform).

Yes! the letters in the key are actually numbers, similar to hex. The encoding is called bech32, and it is a carefully selected set of characters that are hard to confuse, so no 0, o and O or stuff like that.

On that video....yeah well, i guess the point is that the number is so large you can't possible make any sense out of it, so you are right to zone out ;)

I am there to explain Nostr. I will adjust things a bit depending on the host/audience and the type of questions i am getting; i want them to get away with a better understanding. Also dont think @npub1dyxgm... and LX (who does not have a phone) are normies hahaha.

There are others that focus on accessible content and ''conversion'' like @npub1spdnf... , that does his thing with the explicit purpose of getting people onto primal. Thats ok, that is his wheelhouse. @npub18ams6... with his podcast and presentations also tries to be accessible for broader audiences. My wheelhouse is trying to speak regular English as much as i can, or explain jargon/technical parts in regular terms when im forced to; but i am not dumbing anything down for the sake of the lowest common denominator.

Im not on these podcasts to advertise Nostr, or to convince normies to start using it. I never give instructions on how to get started, and only send people to Nostr.com at the end, for them to figure it out themselves. Retention is extremely low as it is, so why bother? Let those that bother to look at Nostr.com, and then bother to figure it out on their own be the filter; the ones that make it at worth putting effort into getting them further ahead in their Nostr journey (and i subsequently do/try).

Oh no, this is more like being on the internet the period before 2005; i think we just crossed the period even before that last year.

Hopefully @nprofile1q... improves so you can start automating! Come to think of it, you should get an nsite! Its a regular webpage, that automatically is populated with your Nostr posts. I never put much effort in mine, but as an example https://constant.npub.pro/ , it shows the articles ive written. No idea what the best way to go about it is these days, maybe @nprofile1q... knows, or knows to point you in the right direction.

Do you have a link to the tarot app?

Im tempted to give you an introduction explanation of how public/private keys work now. Ok super short (spoiler, not as short as i hoped):
You (your computer) picked a large random number (its superduperextraturbo big...no really, its huge), and kept is secret (i hope👀). That large random number, is your private key (nsec, i.e. Nostr Secret (key) ). Then you (again that helpful computer) did some cryptomathmagic on that secret number, and created a derivative large number. That is your public key (npub, i.e. Nostr Public (key) ).
How Nostr works, is that you create what is called a signature underneath all your posts, using your secret key; and then the outside world can verify that signature using your public key.

So your npub is your cryptographic ''name''; and your nsec is what you use to create signatures that belong to that ''name''; because only the person that holds that secret is able to produce those signatures.

So...its just a number, you (your computer) made up out of thin air. You could also roll dice if you want to produce that number, just make sure its ''random'' such that other people can't trivially guess it. You never had to ask anyone permission to create it, and you can always create other keypairs if you are so inclined whenever, and whereever you want.

So its not a password in the sense that it gives you access to something by convincing some else to give you entree; but functions like a password by being a secret that allows you to proof to others that you know a secret (without revealing the secret).

It all relies on the number being superdupermegaultra large, so to give you somewhat of an idea, watch this video. Its 5 minutes long, but you can ignore the first 30 second and last 1,5 minute, so the actual relevant part is the 3 minutes in the middle:

Happy to see you on Nostr sir.

I actually forgot a reason why i like Simon Stevin, he calculed and wrote down the tables of interest, and published them in a book. That information were corporate secrets held by banks at the time, the public at large had no idea of the real cost of loans etc. So he opensourced loan costs, which is another bad ass move in my book.
