In this video, the second note is a long form note rendered as gemtext. You can tell from the markdown headings converted to gemtext headings. Because gemtext supports only 3 levels of headings, h4, h5, h6 markdown headings will be rendered as h3 i think.

nostr:nprofile1qqspcuf39769yuu4dvrcufucrhxptvtcmwx4t0la0t2h4r86a4444dqlqv8rm h4 to h6 all folding into h3 is a fair trade for gemtext. i'll test it on a long form note of mine this week.

Here's #macron saying that there are no hordes of violent migrants in #france and that all videos of violent protests and looting on the 17th of octobre #17octobre are made with artificial intelligence, it's all AI you see ... In the background, the actual hordes of migrants burning and looting like everyone saw in the streets on the 17th.

May he be #impeached ASAP and sent to a psych ward.

caracal has become my daily #nostr client, yes i like to see notes as #gemtext and also you can compose articles in gemtext, #caracal will translate it to markdown. In #lagrange you can choose to autoload images or not, it's better to disable it.

If you use Linux there's an AppImage that bundles caracal and Lagrange https://gitlab.com/cipres/caracal/-/releases/continuous-master/downloads/caracal-x86_64.AppImage

Also working now on a gemini/nostr browser that embeds caracal ...

A bit long and rambly, but had a section on and old blog post on the topic: Gemini is often pushed as a good alternative to your standard web server in the indyweb/smolweb community, however, I’m a...

You make some valid points but overall i think you're wrong when you say that the #geminiprotocol hasn't solved anything and went back too far. It has, on the topic of identity for example. Gemini allows you to identify yourself with a TLS client certificate when you connect to a server (try #lagrange and look at the identities system). This means that you own your identity, just like with #nostr. On the "modern" web, it's the reverse, you have no control over your identity.

Interesting, didn't realize that. I'll have to do some more reading on it.

nostr:nprofile1qqstc2926kck0uca6d7xdkxft4qqceq3mqe8tmgjc5z0vzt968u7a3ssq8jg9 i like gemini for reading. TLS is mandatory and pages are plain gemtext with no scripts, so a whole site loads in a blink. ...

Totally. I actually wrote a #nostr client for the #geminispace called #caracal. It's a gemini service that you can access with a browser like #lagrange. Notes are rendered as #gemtext and you can view images. It's a bit challenging to use but if you like gemini you might want to give it a try :)

I think that codeberg's new policy regarding LLMs and AI contributions (basically they voted to ban AI projects) is pretty logical. They just don't have the computer resources anyway to handle the same volumes of AI slop that github continuously crumbles under every day.
