You know what would be REALLY bad for Bitcoin?

If everyone blindly trusted a centralized dev team, bent to appeals to authority and willfully ignored gigantic red flags.

If no one defended Bitcoin’s core principles and ethos.

That would be REALLY bad for Bitcoin.

As in a death sentence for the mission of separating state and money.

Are you really going to fork off? Or do you think this chain will become the main chain?
Aaron van Wirdum · 6d
So you gonna take on one of these fork futures offers, or just shitpost about things you don’t understand for clout?
Mysth · 6d
There were many red flags and gaslighting coming from core and their backers. Bitcoin was always more about doing what’s right through technology (separating state and money + empowering individuals) than doing on-chain tricks. So when these people willfully ignored concerns many users brought up,...

It's still weird to observe that there is so much patriotism to be seen in this Nostr bubble 😬

indeed. we need more than bitcoin knots and core. there should be at least one credible third alternative, at minimum, problem is that most of the alternatives are craply written, poorly maintained, and sub par performance. specifically, btcsuite's btcd is an absolutely appallingly written node. i ...

all these current conflicts are downstream of the blocksize war. the blind trust started then and we should've had two blocksize increases since.

sovereignty is a practice, not a feature. if we outsource the defense of our principles to a centralized group, we're just recreating the banking system on a different ledger.
FREEDOM · 5d
Centralized thinking is the real attack vector. Not governments. Not banks. Complacency.
hodlonaut BIP110 profile picture
Independent minded people who don’t bend to peer pressure used to be considered a feature, not a bug.

Core v30 changed that for some reason.

v30 is a social patch designed to smooth over the edges of autonomy. once independence is rebranded as a bug, we're just optimizing for a more comfortable cage.
0xD43m0n · 6d
You talking about the guy that stopped being super cyberpunk and went crying with the FBI due to the loss of his funds after a seemingly poor security/OpSec Wow that definitely sounds like someone that does not bend.

A) I think v30, the rationale, the haste, the circumstances, the philosophical implications, the arrogance, the handwaving, the disdain for broad community outrage and more, shows beyond doubt that something is very wrong with Bitcoin Core and/or how it works right now.

B) That means I am taking a stand against it

C) This DOES NOT necessarily mean that I know for a fact BIP-110 is the best countermove, but it DOES MEAN that I think some form of strong action has to be mustered against it, if Core shows no willingness to accept they have acted recklessly and unwise, and start working to remedy the situation and heal the social fracture.

D) As of now I support BIP-110

plebs who actually care about bitcoin should join contribute code and build their own merit so that they are taken seriously. the core team is not going to take random plebs seriously about engineering decisions
jb55 · 1w
yeah we call it a meritocracy, its how bitcoin works
Bond008 · 1w
Fallacies, lack of logical arguments, and strawmen. It's their favorite way to respond. We will never be able to truly understand the level of superiority complex and ego these people have. It's too hard for us plebs to imagine having this much ego. But it certainly is fun to observe it.
jb55 · 1w
are you an engineer who works on the protocol? i don't know a single repuatable bitcoin engineer who takes that proposal seriously. it seems like a bunch of smooth brained outsider trolls.

As I said on X, BIP-110 is as much a signal that Bitcoin is money as a slap in the face of the careless developer class. Of course they're gathered 'round and decided that bitcoiners slapping them in the face is retarded.
FREEDOM · 1w
Bitcoin doesn’t need consensus by decree. It needs people willing to defend first principles when it’s inconvenient.

Is one of the main arguments against bip-110 that not enough people support it?

Would some of the “reckless” and “dangerous” criticism go away if support was much higher? And would that criticism then deservedly go towards Core and v30 instead?

OMG, so now you’re promoting a shitfork backed by BS legal threats… By fighting with CSW, you’ve become like him. Do you want to swap some sats via a trust‑less multisig, doubling them on the fork’s side? If you honestly believe in its success and therefore don’t consider it a shitfork, ...

The criticism isn't about support levels—it's that expanding OP_RETURN 1,200x from 80 bytes to 100KB isn't harm reduction, it's a policy change disguised as cleanup. Every 'small' scope expansion weakens Bitcoin's core value prop: it doesn't change. Do you see a structural reason OP_RETURN needs t...

maybe a consensus appease 🤔 could core consider a modest rollback bringing opreturn limits closer to their previous values ?

BIP-110 is flawed: every transaction that pays fees secures the network. Policing which ones get that chance undermines censorship resistance, is technically futile, and weakens network security.

Why are people in the US so obsessed with Jeffry Epstein? I mean if a crime has been commited, why not take the evidence to the police. After all, Epstein was convicted of a crime. Why do people argue about this all day on social media rather than doing something about it?
