I've never tried pickled pears, sounds interesting!

Tender cactus has a texture like a steamed zucchini/courgette but it's slimy like okra. The flavor is mild but satisfying. It used to be a fairly common "vegetable" around here but not as many people eat cactus these days. I like it in tacos, with beans and rice and cactus is fantastic in scrambled eggs. 😋

I made a small batch of pickled nopales (cactus). So much better than store bought! I probably should have gone with serranos instead of jalapeños though. These don't have much heat. #food #cooking #nopales #peppers #chiles
