Lake Chad reached its largest extent during the Holocene. Really, it was almost an inland sea. To distinguish this body of water from its modern form it's often referred to as Lake Mega Chad. As a parent of meme obsessed teens, this makes me very happy.

It's been two full weeks since I turned off my smartphone and it was definitely the right choice. I was really worried about not having it but in the last two weeks I've only had to say "I'm sorry, I don't have a smartphone" once and it got me out of doing something I didn't want to do anyway. My attention is starting to come back and I'm definitely less anxious. Everyone is different and my experience will never be your experience but if you can, try getting rid of the misery box.

It's been a handful of days since I turned off my smartphone and I've already noticed some changes. My long dormant keypad typing skills are coming back which is fun. My anxiety about not having a smartphone is starting to fade. I'm really enjoying my single purpose devices (nex-5, xteink4, gbc, Voyager 2). Auto complete typing made me nervous. Having a notification light on my phone is a game changer. We'll see how it goes but I don't think I'm going back.
