I agree that it is probably a terrible idea to install solar panels on your home's roof (potential damage to roof, hard to service, et cetera).

However, if you have enough land or the side of a deck, maybe solar panels would be a good idea.

I watched the video and I mostly agree with your assessment...

However, I do want to consider the concept he presented about solar panels being a durable lasting asset. They could possibly be a way to build resiliency into a property or homestead if the energy projections are correct.

Crypto-currencies not being backed by anything physical solves the problem of seizure. Bitcoin's design may have taken that into account, due to the timing of the Liberty Dollar raid and seizure being just a few years before.

Yeah, so with that threat of force are people dumb to avoid alternatives to the dollar? Maybe the incentives still don't add up well enough for regular people to seek alternatives to the dollar.

It is a hard problem.

The dollar currency problem is destroying the viability of most "middle class" American families, but switching to an alternative is nearly impossible for most people to consider.

So the herd is avoiding long term thinking that could have lasting benefits and instead going for short term gain and shiny objects. Can we blame them too much for that?

This is one of the reasons why I no longer hold much hope for crypto-currencies to be generally adopted unless market circumstances absolutely force it (central bank completely collapse, while still having usable internet for crypto-currency transactions).

I think things like Bitcoin (as digital cash) and Monero have incredible potential and promise... but people are extremely unlikely to actually use them.

"Do not immediately attribute to malice that which can be attributed to stupidity." is what comes to my mind on this topic.

It's not that people immediately look to do harmful things, often it is that they have a very difficult time even thinking about how to make change between two currencies for a morally good transaction.

In related news, I got an HP EliteDesk 800 G3 mini back to a local customer yesterday. It had Windows 10, but they decided to upgrade to Zorin OS (Linux) instead of Windows 11. I helped them with that process.
