What about a date helper in #HomeAssistant? Then you could trigger automations on the helper. You'd just set the date helper's date to just before the next expiration. Once you renew, reset the helper to just before the next expiration. Possible to make that fancy but at it's core, that's the easiest in my mind.

Or you could use the confirmation action on the tap action.

Or you could create a toggle helper and put that on your dashboard then confugure your controls to be disabled if the toggle is off. Toggling the button on makes them ended.
