Last spring my father in law “retired” from farming. He sold half his herd. HR 1 mentioned above was allowed a shot at the bar to celebrate. Very, very small shot, and a longer story but yes with mom or me he’s “legal.” Bartender would not have served him if it was just grandpa or uncles. Has to be parent or spouse.
Sister in law was 20 at her wedding got to go the bars for like 6 months with husband.
Not very different than Europe of the past.
