@fiatjaf you prly been asked this before, what's your sense on the matter of having clients connect to each relay separately instead of a more decentralized model like irc with a family of relays providing one network of messaging traffic?
I'm trying in my mind to give nostr a place/position, and I feel like the distributed model creates an excessive need for client connections, and for relays coping with huge numbers of incoming connections.
Also, is it easier to miss out on conversations because there are so many individual relays instead of select IRC-esque large hubs?
Am I wrong? Am I exagerating my expectations? Am I misinterpreting this? I am somewhat bugged by this model as if there's a looming longevity/sustainability issue.
