The media problem has always been about the funnel. That what most see most often is that which monied interests want them to see. Because they programmed the radio and TV. Like today's corporate algos, they controlled what came up next on the limited stations available. Content couldn't upset the advertisers. Making a newspaper or movie widely distributed was expensive. The web made more media accessible, but like a zine, it didn't mean anyone saw it.

Again, the funnel. Fedi could fix this.

Corporations know everything about us and yet we can't have a national portal that simplifies all the ways we need to interface with government.

Voting, mail, taxes, ID, payments, benefits etc.

We incur all the costs of a lack of privacy without the benefits.

In light of universal revulsion at what Trump has done, we could pass a constitutional amendment that made any action taken to corrupt the government clearly illegal, and state that anybody could be tried for them at any time and that conviction would lead to the immediate removal from government office and inability to hold any government office in the future. Because it would be a constitutional amendment, it would override free speech concerns regarding campaign donations.

Of course @nprofile1q... had no problem co hosting #NoAgenda with #RobDew. They spread plenty of misinfo once they saw Trump supporters as a big pool of potential donors.

Read how little his guest cared about spreading misinfo re Sandy Hook. Imagine their reaction if you had a big audience and lied about their dead loved ones. And it's bullshit to argue that you wanted a political outcome (no new gun laws) but shouldn't have to consider responses to your unsubstantiated claims.

How about we switch out Soldier Field and the Museum of Science and Industry? Finally get MSI onto the museum campus and let the #ChicagoBears truly become the Monsters of the Midway. They can build what they want in a good location in Chicago and near the lake.

The longer I live, the more I discover that it's not that we don't know how to do something better, but that a few people make a lot more money keeping it broken. And it's hard to organize the minimal but widely shared interest enough to overcome their influence over both the relevant structures and understanding of the issues involved. Most people both don't care enough and don't understand that a better way is possible.

Went to the #RockAndRoll #HallOfFame today for the first time. Underwhelming. It's like one good floor in the basement plus a video, garage band, the walk of fame and the gift shop.

I'm not against such places but they need proper curation. Same with award shows. It should be less about who is great but instead what's the bigger story and why do these artists, events and scenes matter. Provide multiple perspectives like a great museum does.

It's fine but you're better off with #500Songs.

It's hard to believe that the world would let such a horror happen if the people were well informed and our governments represented the people. So because of that, I can reluctantly support those actions. But ultimately they are a form of tyranny. A few people deciding the way that many must live outside of a democratic process. Fixing that process (which includes the info/opinion ecosystem) should be our highest long-term priority.

We should try to pass a constitutional amendment that addresses a lot of these dumb loopholes that let SCOTUS treat the president like a toddler king before people forget what an idiotic jerk he is, if given the chance.
