In the past, all social interaction was fragmented. We went to different pubs and clubs. We lived in different towns and cities.
Most people were well known in their social circle but practically unknown in the next town.
Fragmentation didn't seem like a problem.
Why is it a problem now?
I think, eventually, we'll have to pay people something like the average national wage to have children.

It occurs to me that a #libertarian should support a falling birth rate, because beyond the short term pain should lie self reliance and devolved power structures.
