True story:
Talking to a friend at the office about saving and investing, I asked whether he considered getting some BTC, since it’s on a discount.
“No, I don’t dable in risky assets”, he said - “I’m not looking to lose my money you know!”
I nodded staying silent.
The next day, same topic arrived. I asked whether he considered getting some bullion gold or silver, since they cannot be printed by the bank.
“No, that’s a relic of the past”, he said - “I’m not going to be trading commodities, you know!”
I was surprised, but nodded staying silent.
On Friday, that week, I brought a silver coin to show him, since I don’t think he fully understood that such investments are available. I was pretty sure that his comment about trading was a signal of ignorance. I showed him the coin and explained that it’s probably the safest, most boring, most stable kind of money there and if he wants to save his money without loosing to inflation, buying such coins could be a good idea.
“Oh, I didn’t know you can do that!” - he said - “I’ll see about it. Thank you.”
I nodded staying silent.
Today, I talked with him and asked what he decided in the end.
“I invested in some gold ETFs and a few incredible companies”, he said - “thank you for helping me!”
The moral of the story?
I guess, just like Jesus claimed, some people “look but they don’t see; they listen but don’t hear.” And that’s okay.
