I was wanting to get a few ducks. Not sure what kind a friend has (neither is she, lol), but quite a few handsome males... quieter than others I've heard.

Muscovy ducks are much, much quieter than common barnyard ducks (all derived from Mallards). They’re also less messy with water/mud and have way cleaner eggs.

@nprofile1q... — a ratio of about 3-4 hens to one drake seems to work pretty well. Less hens can get “overworked” by the drake. It helps though that the hens can usually manage to fly away from the drake when they’re not interested in mating; the drakes are so much bigger that they don’t fly as well.

@nprofile1q... — we do. Muscovy meat is delicious. The breast is similar to sirloin steak. Lots of tasty eggs too!

She’s almost doubled the record for the largest brood of Muscovy ducklings hatched on our farm! 😲 (28?!)
Problem is, these ducks are TOO easy for use to raise and we’re starting to have to work hard figuring out what to do with them all.
But at least I’ve never felt so food secure! 🤣

I have no doubt Denver would have enthusiastically used such tech in 2020 to enforce the lockdowns there.
