Takatalvi The Finnish word for when it's spring and winter makes a comeback ❄️ #GM https://blossom.primal.net/07f2199b3af8bd2bb3ef9604b7d7db90cc9ff722a94f290970b79c7e3aa20d68.jpg

GM, in Greece we have the exact opposite: during the period of 15th of December and 15th of February , in the heart of the winter, there are days of continuous sun and heat, something like spring / summer. Those are the days of Alkyonis, which was the daughter of Aeolos, god of the wind. When the husband of Alkyonis died she transformed to a bird (common kingfisher - named Alkyonis in Greek) and Zeus commanded to have good weather for 2 weeks in order for the bird to be able to born her eggs. During spring it is a lot uncommon to have again even fragments of winter, only in the mountains and the north region maybe.

Haha, yes. How not to? I just came back from a run and swim at the seaside myself. Life quality in Greece is so good with just a little bit of money 🙏🏼

An easter dog walk during spring break at Filopappou hill. What a bless it is to live near (but not too close) to the center of Athens and Acropolis. @Blau Fee #athens #greece #happyeaster #troufa #blackdog #dogwalk

Oh wow, that's a great recommendation, thanks!! We didn't turn towards Kalavriti, but we'll be tempted to do next time 🙏🏼 While we are at it, there's a great café/bar in Kleitoria called "Maze...

Oh I will have that in mind! I haven’t been to Klitoria yet! Also don’t forget if you go to KalavRita there is a village after that , about half an hour, on an easy mountain road, it s called “planitero” and it s like a fairytale, with a river and plane trees, that has restaurants who serve fresh trout ( in all kind of recipes, aka pasta, salad, fried grilled or whatever, only sweet that haven’t done it - yet!!!) and a very very nice cave with lakes that is visitable all seasons of the year.

Ohh, Planitero with that trout farm and restaurants looks super interesting. Also, that mountain stream there looks tempting for a little plunge. Great stuff! The caves, too. You must be living in Greece and appreciating it for a good time already. More good weekends to come 💛🤙🏼

Really?! Fantastic. Zarouchla is relatively 'close' to Athens or Patras, yes. Neapoli is quite the ride from Athens. Yeah, the good thing about such gems is that nature is super pure 🙏🏼

Also after Zarouchla is Kalavrita, There is my favorite ever restaurant in the road connecting the two villages, for food and hanging out, with very nice people and the great chef George Manikas. The restaurant is called “to spiti ‘tis Marios” - Maria’s house which serves traditional Greek cuisine translated to fine dining and fusion tastes (with also very very good prices). In older times we were there once a month for a day trip on sundays!
