The rest of the day the clock shows the price. Green when it's up from yesterday, red when it's down. The bigger the move, the deeper the color. At night the clock still lights up. The speaker stays quiet between midnight and six.

Someone zaps me on Nostr: my BTClock blinks purple and orange.

Someone drops sats in my son's Lightning Piggy: pink and orange, amount on the screen.

And the kitchen speaker says who sent them.

Hadn't seen this anywhere, so I built it. Here's how.

Home Assistant is the spider in the web. LNbits (piggy) or a small script (Nostr zaps) sends a webhook. Home Assistant pings my phone, lets the speaker talk and tells the BTClock which color and amount to show, through the clock's own API.

Built this with two of my favourite bitcoin gadgets!

My @BTClock lights up when sats come in.
Purple and orange for a Nostr zap.
Pink and orange when someone fills the @LightningPiggy
The rest of the day the LEDs follow the price: euro on the left, dollar on the right, green or red.

Home Assistant ties it together. My phone pings and the kitchen speaker says who zapped.

Final testing.
Soon I will drop a blog about the steps I took.

Zapping & LN Piggy connected via home assistant.
Without AI this was never possible for me.

In the blog I will add a prompt, so you can try it yourself or create something even more fun.

Testing if zapping via nostr triggers my btcclock. Ohh and home assistant. Btw. Every sat wil end up to my son.

Flashed it to v4. It now cycles through block height, fees, price, the halving and my miner’s hashrate.

It flashes when one of my notes gets zapped. A small script on a Raspberry Pi also passes every zap to Home Assistant, so my phone pings and the kitchen speaker announces it.

Biggest lesson: my profile wasn’t on the relays, so nobody could zap me. Took me a whole evening to find that one.
