This may be the prettiest ant I've seen in ages. Diacamma viridipurpureum, photographed in Germany from a captive colony collected in the Philippines. This species does not have distinct queens; egg-laying is done by mated workers.

This is the Cuban Spiny Ant, Polyrhachis cubaensis. It lives in South Africa, because of a labelling error. Cuba does not have any Polyrhachis ants.
