Nice! Yeah I like spiders and theyre welcome in my garden. Was just curious what he was. He seemed super aggressive but only cause his super fast twitch movements. Was cool to see, I left him alone after showing the kids.

I'm no expert. Was curious and did a quick image search. I try not to kill spiders, but we get black widows here in NC, a lot in our garages - so I spray those MF'ers!

Yeah, and they like it spread out and consistent. Too much or too little and blossom end rot. From what I can remember it stops them drawing up calcium from the soil.

Early season i had to hand pollinate early in the morning (they close up again by early afternoon) to get them going. And you gotta be diligent cause i find the female flowers tend to only open for a day or two. Is yours at least producing female flowers with a baby squash at the base of the flower?
Even then I can only get one (or two if im very lucky) to take at one time. 3/4 always end up shriveled in the compost pile (bad/no polination)

I just think it’s a bad year… I may have used old seeds as well… I’ve never had to hand pollinate any plant I’ve grown before… Normally we get tons of em…

A distinct childhood memory of mine...

We used to play in the woods. Maybe 3rd or 4th grade at the time. One day, bigger kids came and started shooting us with paintballs. Everything we showed up, they were there. This went on for a week.

I got fed up with it. But instead of whining or tattling, I saved up my chore money and convinced an older kid to buy me an airsoft gun.

I took care of the paintball problem.

These are the lessons kids today arent learning. They run to mommy and daddy when things get uncomfortable (and later to uncle sam). Instead of learning to solve your own problems, you learn to cry about it and let someone else fix it for you, to their advantage.

Turn this ship around. Start raising children hard again.
