PorteuX 2.7 has arrived, and the project’s developer is making a very bold claim.

According to updated Geekbench 6 results, PorteuX now outperforms CachyOS, a Linux distribution many enthusiasts consider one of the fastest available.

The release also brings GNOME 50.2, KDE Plasma 6.7, Linux kernel 7.1.1, a switch to the new NTFS-Plus driver, and a long list of performance-focused optimizations.

Of course, benchmarks are only part of the story. Real-world workloads often tell a different tale. Still, it’s an interesting claim and one that will likely spark plenty of debate in the Linux community.

Do you think PorteuX can really claim the performance crown, or does CachyOS still have the edge?

ChromeOS laptops are everywhere, but ChromeOS all-in-one desktops? Not so much.

That’s why CTL’s latest device caught my attention. Instead of building the computer permanently into the display, the company uses a removable computer module that slides into the monitor. When it’s time to upgrade, you can swap the module instead of replacing the entire system.

It’s an interesting approach that could help schools, libraries, healthcare facilities, and other organizations reduce costs and e-waste.

This is an important reality check... LLM's are great for "research" in the sense of reviewing literature, formulating ideas, making suggestions you wouldn't have thought of, and of course as everyone knows, writing code... But in my experience they choke on tabular data, I think primarily because ...
