Im sorry but how did any of their team think that was acceptable - that would make anything but pre-emptive moderation totally ineffective. A single bad actor in a group chat even for less than a minute, could potentially force hundreds of people at once to load csam or other malicious/illegal content onto their devices the next time they opened that chat, with no moderator recourse.

I’d previously wondered why most furry groups operate on TG instead of signal, but yeah if they hadn’t added basic mod actions till now, that could be one reason.

Anthropic is also significantly involved with war and violence. Does the project accept those kind of sponsors now?

I feel like accepting this sponsorship is going to have knock on effects for the project that go much further than the size of the cheque you’ll get - you’re damaging trust, not just with the users ( not that the project leadership cares about what users/artists think, clearly ) but with devs and the people who contribute to the project. They’re not dumb, and they don’t have to donate their time if they don’t feel the project deserves it

@nprofile1q... I think what a lot of Americans don’t realise (or don’t want to admit) is that trump is possibly the most ‘American’ president there’s been so far.

Like, this is what the American empire is about. Invading other countries and killing their people, as well as the absolute prioritisation of the wealth of the capitalist class over the needs and rights of the people. He is much more abrasive about doing it, but the presidents before him were doing the same things, just quieter.

I think this can be best seen in /why/ trump is so deeply unpopular. The issues that are dominating popular discussion for Americans are… cost of living and ICE. A lot of Americans are unhappy with government because the misfortune is pointed inwards at them too now. Hell, even the main concern people have with the Iranian war is an economic one, not the ‘killing people’ part.

@nprofile1q... found out yesterday about collective shout being a charity registered here in Australia, I’ve gotta file a complaint as a citizen about that since they aren’t really doing charity stuff.
I feel like that really is the biggest weak point currently
