I understand that the Bitkey is designed for non-technical people, but it would be nice for there to be an OPTION to obtain seed words in case CashApp ever experiences operational issues or otherwise deprecates the Bitkey project.

Would also be nice to allow it to connect to my own node over Tor, rather than Block’s servers. Otherwise, I cannot recommend it wholeheartedly to noobs.

You bring up several interesting points about the misuse of surveillance technologies, but you are incorrect to label Israel’s response to Hamas’s attacks as a genocide. This is a war. That may be uncomfortable for you to hear, given what you may have read or heard.

The truth of this war is explain by this simple meme.

I am open to have a discussion with you in DM.

You can tell, I’ve been through a lot with this mug over the years. We were the recipients of befuddled bemusement and weird looks to eye rolls, sneers, and misinformed accusations.
But, every so often, an innocent question followed by a highly caffeinated answer.

For a long time, through many cycles, I positioned my asset allocation conservatively. Of course, I had conviction but, my investment philosophy is such that I’d never make a bet which, upon losing, would force me to give up my seat at the table.

The question I’ve always asked myself is, “What if I’m wrong?”

I woke up this morning and asked myself a different question, “What if I’m right?”

Hey #Plebs, #NostrPlebs,

I met a bitcoiner last year who had recently gone down the rabbit hole. Listening to lots of podcasts, but not reading very much. I know this because he kept repeating how he had been “orange-peeled” and how he wanted to “orange peel” as many people as he could. Evidently, never seeing it written down, he did not know that the term is “orange-pilled,” as a reference to the decision Neo has to make between the red pill, which will wake him up to a life-changing truth, and the blue pill which leave him asleep and living an ordinary existence inside The Matrix (1999).

He didn’t know the reference and it was an innocent mistake — not one of any real consequence. But here’s another for all you Plebs, #BitcoinPlebs, doing it all #ForThePlebs.

Of course language can change over time and slang can hold different meanings but, in this case, you are actively reinforcing the belief that there is a division in society (originally Rome) between the elites and the common people, the haves and have nots, the Bourgeoisie and the Proletariat. Ah, yes. It’s literally a Marxist framework and you are swallowing it uncritically, regurgitating it enthusiastically, and binding yourself to an ideology that DOES NOT WORK for a free society. Unless you are a Marxist, stop using this language.

You cannot talk about creating generational wealth while simultaneously bashing the wealthy class… which you will become once you create said generational wealth with #Bitcoin. It is only through Capitalism that you will create the wealth you seek. Not Marxism. Not even Anarchism.

An Honest Capitalist is a net producer of value (whether products or services). They are rewarded in the free market in the form of profit if they can steer their enterprise effectively, efficiently and fairly among a variety forces: sales margin, competition, regulation, supply chain management, employee satisfaction, customer service, growth, etc. It is, of course, true that we live in an age of Crony Capitalism which rewards intermediaries, nepotism, political connections, regulatory loopholes, obligatory intermediaries and rent-seeking (which has nothing prima facie to do with your landlord or real estate), etc.

…but that doesn’t mean that we should be reconsidering Marxism, Socialism, or Communism and using THEIR mental framework and language.

Do not run from your thoughts.
Do not try to chase after them, either.

Instead, simply sit there and see what happens. Pay attention.

What happens when the current thought unravels and disappears? Where does it go? Can you predict your next thought? Where does it come from? Is there a thinker, thinking? Or are there just thoughts spontaneously appearing in consciousness?

Sit down.
Close your eyes.
Take a breathe.
Listen.

What is the next thing you hear?
Notice how your ears accept it and your brain registers it without you *doing* anything. It’s just happening. Just a nervous system, processing.

Your thoughts are the same way.

What is the next thing you think? Notice how the mind creates a thought and then reacts to it. Did *you* create your next thought? It’s just happening. Just a process.

You are not the cause.
You are the witness.

As we approach ATH’s, it occurs to me that they’ll never acknowledge the:

~ thousands of hours of study (reading books, blogs and research papers, listening to podcasts) on everything from the history of money/credit/debt, international finance, privacy, human rights, energy markets, cryptography, and philosophy

~ conviction, patience, and intestinal fortitude developed while surviving multiple bear cycles and the endless FUD from haters, bankers, and shitcoin promoters

~ years of running nodes and miners, experimenting with various hardware wallets, and learning how to operate (clumsily) on the command line.

They’ll say we “got lucky.”

Anyway, many thanks to @npub17u5dn... @npub15c88n... @npub1a2cww... @npub1trr5r... @npub1tm204... @npub1s05p3... @npub1qny3t... @npub13lkyy... @npub1dc847... @npub1s0vtk... @npub1t8a7u... @npub14mcdd... @npub1n3sjl... @npub15dqlg... @npub185h9z...

@nostrich talks a lot about Lionel Shriver’s The Mandibles and, yeah, it’s a decent piece of near-future-fiction that imagines society’s break down in the post-financial-apocalypse of a US sovereign debt default.

But, IMHO, a far better work is Adam Ferguson’s When Money Dies which describes the recent-past-non-fiction of the causes and consequences of hyperinflation in Weimar Germany: A blend of financial history and personal anecdotes lifted from the diaries and letters of people who lived through it.
