The period of Wii+Wii U(?)+DS+3DS where Nintendo was really good at making cool, original aspects to their consoles, but in the process making nearly all of the games just kinda really suck hard to play on literally anything but original hardware (possibly deliberately given console emulators were on the rise in popularity at the time?)

I have no clue where I read this but remembering an amusing anecdote where someone was looking into getting permits to leave a dumpster in a street parking spot outside their building, but then the dumpster company told them that even with permits they won't leave dumpsters in unfenced areas overnight because the city is apparently filled with roving gangs of carpet installers that immediately fill any dumpster left overnight XD

Thinking about how kinda lucky it was that there wasn't a format war for DVD (even though there was close to being one) because it was the right time in history for the PC industry to have the power and self-respect to tell the companies involved "we will refuse to support either of your formats as computer discs if you try and start a format war, so figure it out or give up on touching the currently-massive home computer market"
