What is freedom?

The idea that welfare states or socialist-leaning systems “never worked” doesn’t survive even a quick look at history. Many of the most prosperous, stable, and socially mobile societies were built with strong public investment, labor rights, and universal welfare.

* United States (1945–1975) — GI Bill, strong unions, high taxes on the rich → largest middle-class expansion ever
* Sweden (1932–1976) — universal welfare, low inequality, sustained growth
* United Kingdom (1945–1951) — NHS and welfare state laid the foundation for decades of stability
* West Germany (1950s–60s) — social market economy, rapid reconstruction and growth
* Finland (post-WWII) — education-first welfare model, high innovation and living standards

Sounds like an excellent solution. Just worry about yourself. What a terrific society that will be. America is halfway there and it’s I shithole.

And your solution is anarchy? Democratic elected governments are supposed to protect and work in the interest of the less fortunate people. The problem we’re seeing now, and the American government in particular is the result of a large uneducated group of people electing a rich greedy fascist pedofile to run the country - with the only goal to enrich himself - ironically the very problem to why a lot of Americans are struggling today.

I think it's a mix of both. You're not going to start a project if you lack motivation, and you're not going to finish if you lack discipline
